Parsons School of Design Integrates Runway Tools into New ’Hopepunk and Runway’ Course for Fall 2025
Parsons School of Design at The New School will introduce a groundbreaking course, 'Hopepunk and Runway,' in Fall 2025, embedding Runway's advanced creative tools into its curriculum. The course, open to all New School students with priority for Parsons enrollees, requires no prior experience with Runway.
Students will engage in weekly assignments and long-form projects, leveraging Runway's suite to explore the hopepunk genre—a narrative style emphasizing Optimism and resilience. Readings include works by N.K. Jemisin, Becky Chambers, and Emily St. John Mandel, blending technical skill with literary depth.
The initiative reflects Parsons' commitment to interdisciplinary innovation, merging design education with cutting-edge digital tools. The course runs August to December 2025, positioning students at the intersection of art, technology, and speculative storytelling.
